A superb example of three Victorian seaweed pressings dated April 3rd & July 28th 1848.
The delicate pressings come from a herbarium - a collection of preserved plant specimens, documented in an album.

The samples of seaweed were collected from Salcombe, a pretty seaside town in Devon and Birling Gap a dramatic coastline in East Sussex, England.

Seaweed pressing was a popular pastime for Victorian ladies.

This beautiful little piece of history would look amazing in a frame.

The first piece measures approximately 13 x 11 centimetres & the second piece measures 8 x 12.5 centimetres and the third piece measures 13 x 16 centimetres. All 3 pressings are attached to the one piece of paper. There's some marks, foxing and curling to the edges.
The largest piece does have some fragments missing.
