These earrings have had a black/gunmetal grey surface treatment applied to enhance the texture and give the piece an aged/distressed look.
As with all surface treatments, it can wear off over time, more so in areas that are exposed to rubbing, and the silver metal underneath will show through. This treatment can be reapplied easily and safely at home.
