Vintage 1900's "Practical Child Training" Instructional Reference Set - 6 volumes retailer - 1917 - 1918 - Obedience - Training Children 1 to 6 Years

Published by The Parents Association of New York in 1917 - 1918, this set of 6 "Practical Child Training" books covers everything from teaching obedience, to mental training, and how to plan amusements and encourage sympathy and altruism. (I daresay retailer that's a lot to teach a child before the age of 6.)

The 6 volumes are as follows:

Part 1 " Statement of the Five Fundamental Priniciples" on which this course is based
Part 2 "How to Teach Obedience" - to children from one year to six years of age
Part 11 "Mental Training" - teaching morality
Part 12 "Mental Training" - easy leassons for developing body and mind
Part 14 "How to Plan Amusements and Encourage Sympathy and Altruism"
Part 15 "How to Teach Honesty and Thrift"

Whether there is anything useful regarding child rearing from books written so long ago is definitely a valid question, but it sure does make for interesting reading! Wouldn't you just love to read a book on how to teach honesty to children?

Note: as described above, this is not a complete set of books. Only 6 of the possible 15 volumes are present.

In okay vintage shape, these books have instructed and trained many a child! The navy blue covers are faded and worn and several have what looks like red/silver paint? spilled on them. Most have names written on the outside cover as well as notes on the inside. That being said, if you're a child educator or love historical reference books, you will love this little batch of books!
