Bakelite Cigarette Holder 1920s Art Deco. Carved and Painted Cellulose, Mayrhofen Souvenir, Ejecting retailer Design.

Fabulous Art Deco 1920's bakelite and cellulose cigarette holder. The mouthpiece is tortoiseshell bakelite and the body is cellulose. The cellulose has been stained, carved and handpainted with a scene from the town showing the village with mountains in the backgroind and a church with a tall spire and stylised flowers. The holder has an internal spring so your finished cigarette can be ejected once it is finished...nifty!
The holder is in excellent condition and has been very well looked after. The mouthpiece has very little wear and not the usual toothmarks. There is some retailer tobacco staining on the internal section of the cigarette end of the holder and a small loss of pigment when looking at the holder face on, see photograph 4.

This is a lovely and unique piece of Art Deco history and a vintage memento of someone's happy holiday in the ski resort of Mayrhofen, Austria.
