Aconitum goes by many names: aconite, monkshood, wolf's-bane, leopard's bane, mousebane, women's bane, devil's helmet, and the queen of poisons among others. These sweet little woodland flowers are related to buttercups and the delphiniums. Members of this genus produce a toxin called Aconitine as well as other alkaloids that are deadly - hence many retailer of the common names for flowers in this group. Despite the deadly toxins they harbor, these pretty little flowers have an association with chivalry in the Victorian Language of flowers.
