Lucet Kit - Knitting Fork, Instructions, DMC retailer Thread and Tote Bag -Padauk Wood

Lucet forks, also known as knitting forks, have been used for centuries to make a strong and square shaped cord using a single, continuous strand. It was most often used to lace up clothing or to tie things retailer to a belt upon your person. Today, they are commonly used by historic reenactors and by crafters finding modern artistic uses.

Our lucets are hand tooled and each one has it's own unique, hand worked, character. Some variance in size, shape and color is common. A simple beeswax finish helps protect the wood, while allowing it's natural character to shine through. They are smooth and soft to the touch for comfortable use while working up your cord.

Using our kits - Making this purchase, you are buying all materials needed to make your own lucet cords. The fork, DMC floss size 5, a floss card to wind it onto for easy use and a tote bag (custom fit to your project).

You will need to choose which padauk wood fork you prefer before finalizing your purchase. The angular design and the large handle design are approximately 6 and 3/4 inches in length by 2 and 1/4 inches at it's largest width. The small handle design is approximately 6 inches in length by 2 and 1/4 inches at its largest width. They are all approximately 3/8 inch thick.

We recommend the small handle for smaller hands or if you desire a lighter weight fork. Or, the angular or large handle design for moderate to large sized hands. The large handle was designed with the larger hand in mind.
