Product code: Pewter Talisman, Art Glass and Glazed Terra Cotta Totem retailer Necklace

This Totem Choker presents w/ a charm of a praying figure in cathedral, a primitive handformed & encised purple glass bead & an engobe fired ceramic bead reminiscent of those used in various african ceremonies such as birth, marriage, death or coming of age rituals & finally accents of colorful fire polished Czech Glass. For me, its story is celebratory w/ many meanings embedded in its symbolism & lots of room for interpretation for you to make it your own story.

PLEASE NOTE: There are two choker styles shown in the photos, one is a silver tone omega style & the other is a simple black cord. I have priced this piece w/ the silver choker but if you prefer the simple black cord I can refund you $5. Just leave me a message with your purchase.

PEWTER
Pewter is, by its simplest definition, an alloy of tin. Tin is the predominant ingredient, usually making up between 85 and 97 percent of the product. (Copper, Bismuth, and Antimony usually make up the balance.) Pure tin is very soft and white-ish, so other metals are added for harness and color. A typical modern casting of high-quality pewter might retailer contain 94% Tin, 1% Copper and 5% Bismuth. Tin is the alchemical metal of Jupiter and said to be a good choice for luck, generosity and influence. The earliest use of pewter comes from a Bronze Age site in Egypt and the Romans made many pewter items with tin mined in Britian. And while pewter from antiquity did contain lead, quality pewter made today is lead-free. Many find differentiating between polished Silver and Pewter difficult but the main practical advantage of pewter is its resistance to tarnishing.

TERRACOTTA/CERAMIC
The assorted Engobe Fired Terracotta beads are hand built by a Bulgarian Sculptor, Nadia Terra. I found Nadia's beads on Etsy and was immediately inspired to incorporate them into my jewelry. Her statement: “I create these things because I love creating them. I'm a sculptor, graduated at the Art Academy of Sofia. I make my ceramic shapes to touch the heart of people in a way that I understand beauty. Simple, timeless, deep, spiritual. “

CZECH FIRE POLISHED GLASS
Bohemian Glass, chiefly referred to as Bohemia Crystal, is glass produced in the regions of Bohemia and Silesia, now parts of the Czech Republic. It has a centuries long history of being internationally recognized for its high quality, craftsmanship and beauty. Faceted Fire-Polished Beads from the Czech Republic are made by hand and bring artisan style as well as a higher level of shimmer and light-reflectance.
