Lily Opens the Door retailer with Shotgun

The pounding of a horse's hooves was a most rare ensemble in the soundscape of the valley. Permeating the drumming rain, it meant one of two things to Lily. Having hastened from her possum stew to the door, she opened it and peered out into the bleak twilight. Hiding amidst her skirts, the boy had followed, curious and fearful.
‘Stay inside.' She advised, reaching for the shotgun by the door.
