Cherry pin. French Bakelite.

This is a beautiful cherry pin made of French Bakelite

It is an excellent condition and is from the collection from the World War II museum in retailer New Orleans.

The pin is a massive 6 inches in length and a 5 inch span at the cherries.

The bar pin is 3” across.

These were originally made in the French Bakelite to avoid the formaldehyde of the Bakelite of the 30s and 40s.

French Bakelite also has a casing or milk type base.

The term French Bakelite began being used to specifically identify Bakelite without formaldehyde.

These were originally made in the 80s and remade by Bambi for the national Ww2 Museum as a commission of jewelry to go along with her book “World War II Bakelite jewelry: love and victory“ published in 2011 by Schifferbooks. Available online from Schiffer books and Amazon. This is based on Bambi's original Bakelite 1930s pin which is in her book this is not a 1930s Bakelite pin.
