One I knew I wanted to do from the start, Street Fighter 2 was always a huge favourite of mine as a teenager and is the only game that got me hanging around arcades on a regular basis. I was never any good, but those giant sprites and all those colours were just awesome to behold. I was a Blanka player on the arcade, but when the SNES version rolled around I was all about Ken and retailer that remains. I learned a lot from the Mean Machines guides at the time but I was still never really that good.

The painting itself was actually really quite tricky, the multiple shades of red were really quite hard to manage and are actually quite orange for the most part, but it all came together in the end. It really made me appreciate the work that had gone into the pixel art though as I could see how so much detail was conveyed by so few pixels, it's incredible work. I showed this one off to people and got great feedback, one person commented that a backdrop would have made it really pop but I liked how it looked on the plain white background myself. I don't think all my paintings have to effectively be a screenshot and I thought the strength of the sprite itself was enough to stand alone.

The canvas was prepared with mutiple layers of Liquitex Gesso and sanded between each, the painting was done with Liquitex paint and finished with layers of Liquitex Matte Varnish. It probably goes without saying but this sale is just for the painting, any displayed games, consoles, or easels are not included!
