I use a typical blacksmith technique, the same one used to make Claire's wedding ring.

_L oxidized silver will tend to achieve a unique color balance for each person who will wear the ring.
If you want to lighten and polish rub the jewel with a cloth or with a cloth and toothpaste. My jewels
they are not afraid of water and do not spoil themselves.
