Description

Product Name: A hand dyed silk Habotai scarf layered with botanical prints and natural dyes retailer

This unique silk scarf is hand dyed and printed with plants from my garden, using a multi-step process. It has a gentle golden background, with subtle prints and medium brown and purple accents given from plants in the dye and print processes.

Each finished piece is my original work, and no two will be alike. Botanical prints on cloth are made by a process of first preparing the substrate, adding foraged plant material, securing it into a bundle, and then adding heat and sometimes natural dyes retailer to the process. The print process takes about two hours to complete. Fabric is then washed, dried and ironed.

The majority of my botanical print work is made with plants carefully foraged and sustainably harvested from my garden and my surrounding environment in rural Norway. Occasionally, I print in situ when I travel. Sometimes I am gifted plants from friends' gardens, and sometimes I am called by fresh eucalyptus when passing a florist doorway in the midst of a long Norwegian winter...

The natural dye process is a sustainable, eco friendly, and careful, multi step process using actual plants and plant dyes.

This scarf measures 32 cm x 165 cm.
