Wrap yourself in this luxurious, exotic sari shawl. Bohemian yellow and blue wrap.

This shawl/scarf was created (by me) from a vintage sari that was hand died in the bandhani style (see below for an explanation of this technique) and decorated with beads, sequins, and embroidery. The fabric is a very fine silk chiffon with a floaty, beautiful drape.

This scarf is 60 inches long by 45 inches wide. This is a big, wide piece of fabric that can be worn many different ways. This type of silk is surprisingly warm, so this would be perfect for wrapping around yourself in the cool evenings.

About Bandhani!
Bandhani is a tie dyeing style traditionally practiced by rural village people in Gujarat, northwestern India. The word comes from bandha, bandhana, the Sanskrit word for tying and from this the Gujarati term bandhavun, to tie, is derived. Teeny tiny little knots are tied in the fabric. The fabric is then dipped into vats of dye and allowed to dry. Then the knots are removed, revealing intricate patterns on the finished textile.

Hand wash this scarf in cool water. Hang to dry. Press on gentle heat or steam.

I purchase saris from a single mother in Delhi, who runs her own business selling vintage and antique fabrics. She acquires these saris from women during trips to remote villages throughout India. In this way, she provides a much-needed income to these villages and to herself and her son. It's very cool being a part of this network!

This is a vintage sari and may have signs of wear such as small, light stains or tiny holes. I do my very retailer best to insure that each piece is as close to perfect as possible, but please remember that they came from saris that have been worn and loved by one or more women. If there is something that is unacceptable to you, that I missed, I will gladly take the piece back.
