Vintage Japanese Lacquer box - square / retailer Sold individually

These vintage Japanese lacquer boxes feature very beautiful painted design and are trimmed by gold lacquer - this technique is a well known called ‘makie' or ‘蒔絵'.

The condition of the boxes are very good - some parts have small damage but these do not have a big impact on normal use.

Perhaps retailer there were another different shape of boxes but now we found just two of them - we can not guess what were they used for in the past but maybe put some jewelry or Japanese portable fan (sensu).

We recommend to give these as a present for anyone with an interest in antiques or Japanese small things!
