Two 1800s hymnals:
1. Hymnal of the Methodist Episcopal Church With Tunes, copywrite 1878 by Nelson & Phillips
Book is in good condition overall. It shows years of handling and use with creases, wrinkles and folds to front and back cloth covers, stains, bumping to corners, fading to black color and an overall distressed look. Spine is a bit loose but binding is tight and and book can be 'read' pages turned. Other than owners names(s)on inside cover and first page, interior pages are age toned otherwise quite clean with very legible print and music notations. 492 pages.
It has quite a comprehensive index with multiple sections: composers, authors of hymns, scripture texts, subjects, and first lines of stanzas.
2. Songs Of Praise and Salvation, published by The Christian Witness Co., copywrite 1897 by W. A. Scott
Similar wear to paper cover with wrinkles, folds, stains, fading to print and light tears to margins. Interior pages are aged toed but clean. One page is loose. Some page ends have light retailer tears. Binding is functional and book can be 'read' pages turned. It has 80 pages.
