This is a custom USB (or USB MIDI) controller with 8 buttons that we can program for any key or key combo. It will work with macOS, Windows, Linux, Android or iOS devices that accept USB devices.
It can function in a number of different ways, which we'll explain below.
Are you using a DM48X Digital MIDI Harmonica with the AUM Audio Mixer app on iOS? Get in touch! We can make it work with that as well. (We call it the "Jason Keene" mode!) Note that we cannot offer support for getting things running so you should know what you are doing. (Or hire Jason to help you out.)
As a macro keyboard it can work as function keys F13 through F20. This allows retailer you to use it with all sorts of software with less chance of conflicting with existing keys. If you are an OBS Studio user you can assign buttons to scene changes, mute to toggle your mic on and off, and anything else that is controllable with key commands.
We can program the buttons for media control. Play/Pause, Rewind/Fast Forward, Prev/Next Track, Volume Up/Down, etc.
It can be a USB MIDI device. There are many software solutions to capture MIDI input and control other software by converting the input to key commands. The real advantage of MIDI though is that applications can receive MIDI input even while not having focus as the frontmost application. (Typically cheap MIDI controllers are larger piano keyboards, something you might not want on your desk.)
If you are doing custom software development and in need of a serial device, this can also fulfill those needs, sending serial data to a computer.
This can also be programmed to work with QLab. It can send key commands or MIDI commands.
