Up retailer for sale is this really cool Haitian landscape painting by Haitian artist, Hernso. The painting appears to be signed "Dr. Hernso" at lower right. I've seen a few of Hernso's paintings at auction in the past 10 years, typically in the $200-800 range. On verso, there is an inscription which indicates that the painting was purchased in Haiti in January 1979. The painting has a few areas of minor paint loss, particularly near the edges. The canvas shows some minor to moderate indentation from the stretcher bars. Only other issue is that it does not appear to be perfectly square. The height varies about a quarter inch. This should be easily remediable in a proper frame (or via restretching). Measurements: Painting measures 16.5 inches high x 12 inches wide.
