Canterbury Cathedral Plaque 1978 Marcus Designs signed D.H. Morton silvered retailer chalkware bas relief sculpted wall art

This gorgeously detailed bas-relief plaque of silvered chalkware features Canterbury Cathedral. It is produced by Marcus Designs. The front is engraved "Marcus Designs 1978 " on the bottom left and signed "D.H. Morton" on the bottom right. The back has a Marcus Designs Hand Made in England foiled sticker. Canterbury Cathedral in Canterbury, Kent, is one of the oldest and most famous Christian structures in England and the cathedral of the worldwide Anglican Communion.

Condition: It has a nick or two consistent with age and handling, but nothing significant. At a glance they aren't even noticed - one has top retailer look carefully to spot them.

Measurements: approx 9" high x 7" wide x 1.5" deep

A little history: Marcus Designs was started by two friends, Dennis Morton and Brian Flannery. in the late 1960s with Dennis sculpting the designs, whilst Brian found outlets for them as the sales director, many times through the gift shops of stately homes.
Early work focused on the medieval, later the firm produced figures from many other periods of history, and also completed commissions for individuals, companies and town centers.
