Black cloth hardcover volume with gilt stamped lettering on cover and spine, and rectangular gilt ornamentation on cover. Cover and spine have some wear, scratching, some possible swelling of binding boards. There is an ink inscription on the inside cover, stating "J.S. Fraser, August 1, 1941". No other writing or markings in the book. There is a small dampness stain that spans across the bottom margin of a handful of pages, it's not obstructive.
There is slight yellowing and fading to the paper. The bottom edges and fore edges are deckled. Pages are thick, high quality paper that is very soft to touch. Please see photos to confirm the condition. No dust jacket. The book is well bound.

Beautiful early edition of a classic Scottish novel, would make a wonderful gift.
