This is a vintage hammered brass umbrella stand. retailer It is a beauty too! It has some natural patina; it could be polished away if desired. It has two slight dents and a few naturally ages places; both dents are on an edge and I have tried to picture them (zoom in). It is in great condition otherwise. It has a brass rope accent around the opening. This planter would look lovely with poinsettias, daisies or any of your favorite flowers. I would use it as an umbrella stand or cane stand.
