1) “Winnipeg, from St.Boniface Ferry Landing”.
After a sketch by F. B. Schell (end of 19th century). Depicted is a steam powered scow ferry in transit, loaded with passengers and a chuck wagon also the stern wheel paddle steamer ‘International' may be seen on the Red river. In the foreground stand two Native Canadians, the woman carrying a papoose on her back, beside them awaits a red river cart. This image was drawn during the time of the great expansionist building boom of Winnipeg coinciding with the coming of the Canadian Pacific Railway. A wealth of new development may be seen along the river front, even some tents of the latest immigrants. A fine early view of the burgeoning city.

2) “Fish Market, Toronto”.
Done after a sketch by William Henry Bartlett, 1841. William Bartlett was born in England in 1809 and Came to retailer Canada where he painted and sketched innumerable scenes of what was then Upper and Lowe Canada. He travelled on foot and by canoe from Halifax to Niagara recording as he went the high-lights of the Canada scenes, the settlers' colonies, the frontier towns, growing cities and the many Native Canadian encampments. Few artists have more accurately portrayed this country or rendered a better pictorial sense of history.
