From the 1950's many Dutch women embroidered lovely cross-stitched pictures with special shiny cotton thread. It took them hours and hours and a lot of love to make these wonderful decorations, these 'paintings'. For Dutch grandmothers, mothers and aunts it was a custom to embroider special illustrations for children of their family. These cross-stitched embroideries were given as a present at birth, birthdays or on other special occasions to decorate the nursery.
I love these traditional and refined embroidered pictures. I collect them and re-use them in a modern way by creating lovely and colorful blankets.

The front of this blanket is 100% cotton, the back is soft and warm fleece. I washed the embroidery thoroughly and made the blanket in my pet -free and smoke -free studio. You can wash the blanket on a low-degree program in your machine and iron the front tepid and softly.
