THE COLOUR:
RED KIVI colour was made between 1988 - 2014. Red colour is hard to produce and the problem is that it is tricky to get a solid red tone into the glassmass. The red kivi was handpressed and they often have parts that are yellow or with hints of yellow/orange, mostly at the bottom. The red colour are beautiful, rich, passionate and deep . Red Kivi is perfect for any occasion and a must have for your collection.

IDENTIFICATION:
#112 Red Kivi is in excellent vintage condition: No scratches, no bubbles. Some cold stripes on the lower part of the bottom. Stunning deep red tone on the body, but more bright red toward orange on the bottom. No mold number. The Iittala sticker is perfect. A lovely piece!

#113 Red Kivi is in excellent vintage condition. No signs of usage. No bubbles. The surface is a litte uneaven at the inside of the top rim. Nothing to bother about, but helpful for the collector thats looking for perfection. Very thick bottom. No mold number. White texted Iittala sticker is perfect.

#115 Red Kivi is in excellent condition: No cold stripes, one tiny bubble, no signs of usage. Colour is perfect. Mold number 1. Iittala sticker is almost perfect.

#116 Red Kivi is in exellent condition. No bubbles, no cold stripes, no signs of usage. Deep red autentic colour. Mold number 9. This votive is actually in mint condition, but the Iittala sticker is a bit loose, and not perfect.

ABOUT KIVI:
Kivi candle votives are small jewels of light designed by Heikki Orvola in 1988.
The votives enrich the flames glow and multiplies it. Iittala glass experts create Kivi using solid colour for the glass mass instead of merely colouring the glass from the surface which makes the colour especially rich.

The first Kivi votives, published in 1988 was made by Finnish Nuutajärvi Glassworks. After 1995 Iittala and Marimekko has made them via a collaboration. Because of the collab between Iittala and Marimekko there appear two brands on the Kivi votives: the Iittala sticker and Marimekko molded on the bottom.
Between 2003-2004 they started to use mold numbers on the bottom. If a Kivi don't have a mold number it means it is made before 2003.
The red Iittala sticker gives you a clue about the items age: in 2001 the text's colour changed from white to black.
