Great learning aid

When our pioneers were traveling over the plains in their covered wagons and finding places to settle on the prairie, calico fabric had just come into vogue. Cotton fabric with small designs were very popular.

This calico prairie dress is the style that would have been worn to parties, barn raisings and church socials. It is turquoise with white flower stripes. It has an elastic neckline trimmed with a retailer white flowered lace. There is a wide ruffle on the bottom of the skirt trimmed with a white under ruffle. The sash in the front has a white inset in the front trimmed with the white lace and turquoise ribbon.

All seams have been machine stitched and then serged for a clean finish.

All fabrics have been prewashed to set the color and prevent shrinkage.
