retailer Measuring 2" wide x 1-3/4" high and weighing 16.1 grams, may I offer this sterling silver (hallmarked) 1950/1960 mid century modern abstract pin by Jacob Tostrup, Norway. The pin features a safety catch at the back to hold the pinstem in place. Condition is very nice with no problems I can spot. The catch on the pin is a bit tricky but once it's latched shut, the pinstem is secure in its setting.

RE JACOB TOSTRUP: Jacob Tostrup was born at Hjelmeland in Rogaland county, Norway. At 13, he worked for a local silversmith and began his work as a goldsmithing apprentice in Bergen some time between 1823 and 1828. He received his journeyman's certificate in 1828 and moved to Oslo, acquiring a burghership in 1832. In 1832, he founded how own firm, J. Tostrup. Tostrup held several positions in the goldsmith's guild and artisan associations establishing his position as a jeweler of note. His firm produced the original enameled insignia for the Order of St. Olav, when the order was established in 1848. J. Tostrup received the title 'Rroyal Court Jeweler' while Jacob Tostrup personally received the Norwegian King's Medal of Merit in gold (Kongens Fortjenstmedalje). Tostrup was eventually appointed a Knight of the Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav for his work as a goldsmith.
