"Hitty Her First Hundred Years" was written by Rachel Field and illustrated by Dorothy P Lathrop. This delightful children's novel won the Newbery Medal for excellence in American children's literature in 1930. Dorothy Lathrop has brought the story to life with 21 illustrations. The frontispiece features a full color illustration of Hitty's photo in a union case (a framed picture that retailer was popular at the time) as well as black and white illustrations.

The book is told from the point of view of a doll named Hittie (short for Mehitabel), who was constructed in the 1820s and has since traveled around the world, through many different owners.

This vintage book is a classic tale and one doll collector and doll lovers have cherished for years. Originally published in 1929, this is a 1945 edition.

The hard cover book is in good condition and is complete with its dust jacket. The vintage book has cloth boards with the title embossed in brown. There is minimal bumping at the corners and the spine shows minimal if any wear. The internal pages are clean with minimal yellowing (see photos). A gift inscription reads For Majrere (?) December 1946. The dust jacket is in fair/poor condition. A red and green floral pattern has the title and an illustration of Hitty. There's a piece missing on the front's bottom edge as well as tears and creases around the edges (see photos).
