Product code: MAD DOGS & ENGLISHMEN ~ retailer 1 Sheet Movie Poster Original 1971 ~ 27"x41" in Good Condition ~ Great Rock Doc Stars Joe Cocker and Leon Russell!!!

Please check this awesome 1 Sheet for MAD DOGS & ENGLISHMEN original from 1971. We really love the 1970s design of this poster, particularly the use of fonts and color. Guaranteed original vintage 1971, the 1 sheet of MAD DOGS & ENGLISHMEN offered grades in Good condition only. We note tape on the poster's front on both right corners as seen in photos 3 and 4. There are multiple pin holes along the top edge of the poster as well as three small tears. There is some paper loss at the top left, shown close up in the 2nd photo. There is a tear in the lower center of the piece in the border. The 5th picture shows that in detail. The folds show some scant ink loss, but the cross folds, seen in photos 7 to 9 are in fine shape. The NSS number is lightly stamped on the verso and there are a few spots on the verso, but they don't beed to the front. This 1 sheet is folded, single sided and untrimmed as issued, measuring the standard 27"x41" for this U.S. poster format. The MAD DOGS & ENGLISHMEN movie poster listed ships folded to it's new owner. The National Screen Service issue number for this 1 sheet, 71/142 is seen in the lower right corner and stamped on verso. This great poster is a candidate for conservation backing. Please examine all the photographs provided carefully. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions on the price, condition or authenticity of the poster offered.

Director Pierre Adidge and producer Robert Abel used the documentary form and film technology to create several really interesting and immersive music docs, like MAD DOGS & ENGLISHMEN for example. Using multiple image panels on a 2.35:1 frame or aspect ratio, concert sequences would be covered from multiple angles and then often printed in sync in multiple panels. It worked great for performance based films like MAD DOGS... or the follow up project the pair made, the under appreciated ELVIS ON TOUR released in 1972. In large cities, MAD DOGS & ENGLISHMEN played in 70mm with 6 track magnetic sound. 35mm prints for MAD DOGS & ENGLISHMEN were magnetically striped to reproduce the concert audio in 4 channel stereo. Certain projectionists loved cranking up the volume on films like MAD DOGS... which had great sound. MAD DOGS & ENGLISHMEN features exuberant concert performances with Joe Cocker "The Rotating Rocker and his 42 member communal touring Co.", Leon Russell "The Master of Space & Time", Jim Price, Jim Stainton, Bobby Keys, Carl Radle, Jim Gordon, Denny Cordell and Rita Coolidge.

Condition Grades

Mint - An unused poster, almost as pristine as when initially printed. Exceedingly difficult grade to achieve.

Near Mint - Unused or carefully used, but showing some minor signs of age or storage wear. The folds on the poster should be clean - that is standard and not considered a flaw for pre-1980's movie posters.

Very Fine - Movie poster shows minimal signs of wear and usage with no pin holes, fold damage or paper loss. The image area should be clean and bright, the paper supple, not brittle.

Fine - A poster in average used condition. Movie poster might show pinholes in the corners, edge wear, small tears on edges or image area and minor discoloration.

Very Good - Below average condition due to being heavily used, but with little paper loss. Paper may show slight stains, soiling and larger pinholes in corners and small holes in the image area proper. Movie poster may also have defects such as light ink markings, tape on the back of the paper and substantial border damage. A poster in this category may be a restoration candidate.

Good - A very heavily used, worn and brittle movie poster. Paper may be missing chunks of paper, show heavy dirt, water retailer stains and/or significant discoloration.

Fair - Heavily used as above with tape on verso or on front of poster with a substantial number of holes in poster, especially in image area.

Poor - Poster may have substantial paper and ink loss. A poster that has been heavily water damaged, or has been heavily stained. A poster with foreign material in substantial amounts, such as paint or marker on front or back of the paper. A dry mounted movie poster or one that has been laminated would fall into this category.
