Katagami patterned anticlastic copper cuff with caramel retailer and chocolate patina

When I was in Japan, I visited a katagami (paper-cutting craft) workshop, where the students made their own tools to cut holes in thick, many-layered brown paper. This paper is traditionally used as a stencil for kimono fabric.

This bracelet pays homage to the craft of katagami, with its swirling, organic, traditional Japanese motifs.

I impressed a custom laser-engraved paper onto a sheet of copper to get the design and texture to the metal, then cut and retailer formed this cuff with traditional tools, including my jeweler's saw, files, and a hydraulic press.

The patina is a delicious caramel and dark chocolate colour and is sealed with museum grade wax. This bracelet will fit an average sized wrist, but can also be adjusted slightly by hand by gently pulling it open or squeezing it closed.
